Soap Brows: How to Get Fluffy Laminated-Look Brows at Home

Soap brows are one of the most popular brow trends: full, brushed-up, fluffy brows that look like a lamination, without the salon treatment. Here is how the technique works and how to get the look at home in under a minute.

What are soap brows?

Soap brows is a styling technique where a specially formulated brow soap is applied to the hairs with a damp brush. The soap coats each hair, sets it in place and creates a fuller, feathered, brushed-up look that holds all day. The effect is similar to a brow lamination but washes out the same evening.

What do you need?

You only need two products: a brow styling soap such as B'KATE Brow Puff and a firm brush such as the bamboo B'KATE Puff Brush. A facial mist like the Hydra Beauty Mist is ideal for dampening the brush and doubles as a hydrating rosewater spray for your skin.

Soap brows step by step

  1. Dampen the brush. Spray one or two pumps of mist onto the Puff Brush, or run it briefly under water and shake off the excess. The brush should be damp, not wet.
  2. Swirl the brush over the soap. A few light circles are enough to pick up product.
  3. Brush the hairs upward and slightly outward, starting at the front of the brow. Work in the direction you want the hairs to sit.
  4. Shape the tail. Angle the hairs at the arch and tail slightly toward the temple for a lifted effect.
  5. Let it set for about 30 seconds. Once dry, the hairs stay in place all day.

Can I combine soap brows with brow make-up?

Yes. For extra definition, fill sparse areas first with a pencil such as the Fine Liner Pencil for hair-like strokes, then apply the soap. Applying soap first and make-up after also works; experiment to see which order you prefer.

Frequently asked questions

How long do soap brows last?

Once set, soap brows hold their shape all day, even on warm days. The look washes out with water or make-up remover.

Is brow soap bad for your brow hairs?

No. A well-formulated brow soap like Brow Puff is designed for use on brows. To keep the hairs nourished, apply a drop of castor Brow Oil in the evening after cleansing.

What is the difference between soap brows and brow lamination?

Lamination is a chemical salon treatment that restructures the hairs for weeks. Soap brows create the same fluffy effect temporarily, at home, without chemicals.
